Why Stevenson Doell?

Why should I choose Stevenson Doell to represent me?

The Stevenson Doell difference is our people. We are friendly, experienced, and approachable. We are real people who are here to speak with you on the phone or in person. Our phone calls are answered by our live receptionist, not a recording, and we encourage people to pop in during our office hours to see us. We stand behind our exceptional professional reputation which has been spread by word-of-mouth over many years by our satisfied clients.

Does it cost anything to speak with one of your lawyers?

It depends. We offer free initial consultations for many matters such as personal injury or estate matters. For other matters we may charge a fee for an initial consultation. Please contact us for details and to know if we can provide a free consultation regarding your matter.

Where do you accept cases?

We are based in Victoria but we serve clients throughout British Columbia including “up island”, in the Lower Mainland and in the Interior. We also work on estates for clients across Canada, in the United States and in other countries. Whether we work with a client outside of Victoria depends on the nature of the matter involved. Please contact us for more information about where we accept matters.

What kind of fees do you charge?

Our fees and fee arrangements depend on the types of matters involved. Depending on the matter, we may charge an hourly rate, a flat-rate, a percentage, or a combination of the foregoing. Please contact us for more information about our fees.

Are you available to meet outside of your office?

Yes. We are available to visit homes, offices or hospital rooms depending on the circumstances. Please contact us for more information about our availability to meet outside of our office.

What is the story of your building?

Our building was a former RCMP office featuring a large vault and a room used to question persons in custody. We now use the vault and questioning room to store important documents for our clients. We have made our office warm and inviting by decorating it with a variety of greenery and art. We are proud to say that much of our art has come as gifts from satisfied clients.

What is the story of Bob’s office?

Bob is a fan of Chinese art. His hand-carved, rosewood desk was shipped from China and appeared in a James Garner film. The desk fits with the decor of Bob’s office which includes hand-stitched tapestries made by Chinese artisans, hand carved vase stands, portraits of a pipe-smoker and needle worker, a ceremonial samurai sword (a gift from a client), and work by Robert Amos.
